Unbelievable place to stay. Historic old Water Board building with many original features alongside modern pieces making it a quality destination. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food and cocktails are magnificent. We had a great time during our stay and highly recommend it. Will be returning.

Just loved our stay, we had a girls weekend away (3 in the room) and was very spacious! Loved the complimentary drink, the pool was heated and so warm. Shower was perfect, would definitely visit again

Staying at the IHG Kimpton Margot Sydney was an absolute delight from start to finish. This hotel is a masterpiece of preservation, beautifully housed in the former Sydney Water Board head office. The art deco design is simply breathtaking; from the grand lobby with its soaring columns and stunning ceiling to the smallest details, it feels like a graceful step back in time. The service was impeccable—warm, personal, and genuinely thoughtful, without ever being overbearing. The complimentary social hour each evening was a lovely touch that created a wonderful, convivial atmosphere. Our room was a spacious and elegant sanctuary, blending historic charm with modern comforts, and the food at Luke's Kitchen was a standout, with stunning, flavorful dishes. We also loved the beautiful rooftop pool, a serene urban oasis perfect for a relaxing dip with a view. In all, the Kimpton Margot is a perfect blend of iconic history and vibrant modern luxury. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will certainly be returning. A truly special hotel.
Response from the owner 5 months ago Hi Ambassador Bas, Wow — what an absolutely fabulous review! 💫 I am smiling from ear to ear reading your kind words and can’t thank you enough for capturing the spirit of Kimpton Margot so perfectly. You’ve described our beloved Art Deco gem exactly as we feel about it — a graceful step back in time with a very modern heart. And those photos! We’re obsessed 😍 The one of you posing at the Front Desk is especially iconic — that’s actually the original Sydney Water Board desk from the 1940s, where everyone used to come to pay their water bills! Who knew bill-paying could have such style? We’re thrilled you loved every part of your stay, from Luke’s Kitchen to Social Hour to our rooftop pool oasis. You’ve summed up exactly what we hope every guest experiences — connection, comfort, and some fun! We can’t wait to welcome you back for more history, hospitality, and (of course) more photos in our favourite heritage corners! Warm regards, Kenza Guest Experience Manager

We stayed only one night at the end of our big Australia vacation to prepare for the long flight home. I used points and wish that I had stayed here for our longer sydney stay earlier in our trip - our room was upgraded to a suite that was very spacious and well appointed. The staff were super friendly and helpful and very flexible where we checked in late and they allowed us to use our credit through my points program even after we checked out as a very appreciated exception. The food at the bar was great and the DJ at Happy hour was awesome. Room was super quiet and dark with the drapes closed.

An outstanding hotel in every respect. We loved staying with our dogs. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the food delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Buster was amazing and we really appreciated the stellar service. All the staff were kind and friendly. We will most definitely be back. 5 stars and highly recommend it. Thank you so much for making our stay really enjoyable.

The best hotel room during my two months trip. Nice hotel touch complimentary bike rental. I have to be negative and couple of things. 1) I asked stuff couple times fill up room refrigerator, no success 2) Roof pool was awesome with limited sun, should be heated. And it’s closing too early.

Great hotel. The service was really good, quick and helpful. Shout out for Jamie (in the hat) who advised where to access medical help locally. Location was good. Bar reasonably priced and good atmosphere. All staff very attentive. Recommend. We returned three times over the month of Jan 26

If I could give this hotel six stars, I would. Every request we made was handled quickly, effortlessly and always with a genuine smile. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome—and that extended to our dogs, who were adored by every single staff member. The rooms were gorgeous: spotlessly clean, beautifully finished and wonderfully spacious. And the rooftop area is an absolute standout—such a fabulous space to relax and unwind. This is one of those rare hotels where great design, comfort and exceptional service all come together. We couldn’t fault our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

Loved our stay at the Kimpton Margot. Arrived early and pleased our room was ready 90mins early. Room was clean and well prepared, shower was large and amenities all good. Unfortunately no view but bed was comfy and gown and slippers appreciated. Pool area was huge but found ourselves chasing the sun as it was usually hiding behind the nearby buildings. Vibes could have been higher with music playing throughout the day not just from 4pm. Also disappointed the bar wasn’t open for lunch. Location is fab and the free drinks during daily social hour (5-6pm) was great, especially as they could be taken to dinner next door at Luke’s kitchen which we also highly recommend. Service here was friendly, and my wife’s bday recognised with small complimentary dessert. Hope to be back!

This is an IHG. hotel, well-located in Pitt Street near Bathurst Street, with a second exit off Bathurst Street for those walking to Town Hall Station or the light rail; both, only a couple of minutes away. Hotel has a grand feel with elevators in the foyer before you enter to go to reception which means that you don’t have to go into the hotel proper on your way to your room. Rooms are a good standard and well-appointed. We arrived early for check -in and needed to change for a lunch booking-our room wasn’t ready. Shout-out to Chelsea who chased up housekeeping and got us early access for which we were really grateful. We were pushed for time and Chelsea again came to our assistance in not just arranging our cab, but phoning us to advise that the cab had arrived. Her customer service was exceptional…many thanks. We originally did not book breakfast which is a bit on the pricey side but in the end relented, and then realised why we had originally decided against it. Breakfast is a bit of a strange concept where you can have a coffee with a pastry or a small fruit bowl, and the choice of a main. No buffet, no cereals; and, not to my liking but that’s me. Next time I will consider other breakfast options. A nice city hotel, where we experienced excellent service, a good standard of comfortable room in a great location. Recommended.
